Information about events

 

All events below are included with the full reunion registration unless otherwise noted. Full Alumni Reunion Registration cost is $45 per alumnus. Guest registration is $40 and is the same as Alumnus registration excluding the t-shirt, registration packet, and dancing in the concert.  After registering, if you plan on attending the Family Picnic, please add it to your shopping cart along with the appropriate quantity

 

Gala Event (Saturday, 10:00am – 12:30pm)

            The main event of the reunion, this banquet will be held in the Wilkinson Center Ballroom (Sunday attire please)We enjoy a delicious lunch while we honor the directors of the BYU Ballroom touring teams, watch a video with highlights from the past 50 years, explore what we as BYU Ballroom alumni have been a part of and are a part of today, and touch on how BYU Ballroom has influenced our lives. You won’t want to miss this event!   This event is included in the full reunion registration, however, if you choose not to attend the other reunion events, you may purchase a ticket to the Gala Only for $25. (If you need a special diet meal, please contact Bethany Davis at bethyanne.davis@gmail.com.)

 

Memory Lane & Laughs (Friday, 12:30pm-2:00pm)

            We’ll gather to remember and laugh about all the good times and crazy times we all shared. You’ll enjoy a Fashion Show of costumes over the past 50 years, blooper videos, Lee awards recap, humorous stories from performances and tours, etc. This event will be a lot of fun and will include plenty of time to reminisce with friends. We’d love to hear humorous stories from your time on team!  

 

Held in the Wilkinson Center Ballroom following the workshops and lunch on your own at the Cougar Eat or a pre-purchased box lunch (Georgia Ham or Turkey Cilmayo can be purchased during online registration—not included in alumni or guest reunion registration). 

 

Family Picnic (Saturday, 3:30pm-5:00pm)

            An informal BBQ meal held on the patio and lawn of the Harman Building. This is a chance for you to bring your family to either show them off, or give them a chance to get to know all your awesome ballroom dance friends. A limited number of tables & chairs will be available, so bring blankets and lawn chairs if you like.  The cost for the Family Picnic is free. One paid alumni registration ($45.00) admits immediate family free of charge, however, all family members must be added to the shopping cart under the Family Picnic Adult and Child options.  (Registered Alumni need to add the Adult Family Picnic to their shopping cart so that we will have accurate numbers for ordering the food.  Thank you.)

 

Individual Team "Era" Reunions (Friday, 2:00pm-5:00pm)

            A time for you to gather with those you were on team with while at BYU. There will be separate reunions for those that danced under the direction of Ben, Roy, Emerson, and several different groupings for those that danced under Lee.   At 3:30pm, we will open the large room and allow everyone to mingle. This is the time to really reminisce with your former team members, teachers, partners, etc. Bring your own scrapbooks, photos, stories, tour clothes, etc. You will want to make time to be there! 

 

Workshops (Friday, 9:30am-11:30am)

            50-minute dance classes taught by BYU alumni. We plan on having four different classes, so bring your dancing shoes!

 

Evening Socials (Thursday and Friday after the concert, 9:00pm-10:30pm)

            Parties after the concert with light refreshments or BYU Creamery ice cream, music for dancing, and plenty of time to visit. 

 

Dancing in the Concert (See schedule for rehearsal and performance times)

For many of you, this will be the main event of the reunion! Perform with other alumni as part of the annual BYU Ballroom Concert in the Marriott Center. Videos of the routine will be posted online and rehearsals will be held the prior to the concert. If you wish to dance, it is mandatory that you are in attendance at the Wednesday, April 7th rehearsal, the afternoon Thursday April 8th rehearsal, dress rehearsal and concert performances.  If you need help finding a partner, please contact your “era” reunion chairperson (See Alumni Dance link).  For performances, you are free to leave or watch the rest of the show (ticket required) after the alumni number, which we expect to be the first number of the concert. 

 

Golf Tournament (Saturday, 6:00am-9:30am)

            For all who are interested in a fun-spirited competition early Saturday morning, come vie for the coveted ballroom golf trophy. Green fees and club rental fees will be due the morning of the event

 

Concert (Friday and Saturday, 7:30 PM and Saturday, 2:00 PM)
The Annual Ballroom Dance Concert performances will be on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and on Saturday at 2:00pm.  We would love to have you either dance in the concert with us or come to watch the show!  A ticket to the concert is required to view the concert, whether you dance or not.  Because you are an important part of the BYU Ballroom Dance community, the Marriott Center has made it possible for all reunion-registered Ballroom Alumni to purchase tickets before the tickets are made available to the public.  Add the Concert Ticket ($0.00) option to your shopping cart during registration and in March you will be sent the pre-purchase code for concert tickets.  The pre-purchase code will also be on this website on March 17th.  You may pre-purchase tickets starting March 17th at noon.  You may purchase tickets for any performance, for you and your family or friends. If you want to sit by other alumni, we suggest you coordinate your performance date, time, and number of tickets, then have one alumni place the order.  It will be a fantastic show--you won't want to miss it!  We hope to see you there!
